£49 per year. You can either have your own web address (www.yourname.co.uk
etc.) or opt for a scotbiz.net address. (www.yourname.scotbiz.net)
OPTION 1
One of the main difficulties that most businesses find when trying to register
a memorable web address is that all the good ones have gone!
With our low cost web design package, we can offer you a web address like
'yourname.scotbiz.net' - very easy for your customers to
remember. The 'yourname' part of the web site address can
be changed to reflect your business type, name etc. or anything else, and
you can have a can matching e-mail address if you wish ('yourname@scotbiz.net').
If you prefer, you can have an e-mail address that includes your name, if
you want to adopt a more personal approach with your customers: ('john.smith@scotbiz.net')
for example. The main advantage of this option is that you can get a website
address that directly says something about your business, also good for the
search engines to find you.
We also provide technical support to customers who are hosted on our own site
- we're only a phone call away if you have a problem. Note that with this
option, you cannot edit your own web pages.
Our lowest cost package is only £49 and incudes
the following:
* Single page Web site design, including 2 pictures of your choice, (Photographs,
logos etc.).
* Hosting of your web site for 1 year on our own 'scotbiz.net' domain. (YourName.scotbiz.net)
* One 'Pop3' e-mail address (YourName@scotbiz.net) which can be used with
your own e-mail software (Outlook Express etc.). Note that virus protection
is available for each e-mail address for a small additional annual fee.
* Technical support - just call us if you have a problem, and we'll sort it
out.
* After the first year, you pay an annual charge of £49 for continued
hosting, e-mail and technical support.
Our £149 package consists of the following:
* Web site design, up to 5 pages including up to 8 graphics of your choice,
(Photographs, logos etc.).
* Hosting of your web site for 1 year on our own 'scotbiz.net' domain. (YourName.scotbiz.net)
* One 'Pop3' e-mail address (YourName@scotbiz.net) which can be used with
your own e-mail software (Outlook Express etc.). Note that virus protection
is available for each e-mail address for a small additional annual fee.
* Technical support - just call us if you have a problem, and we'll sort it
out.
* After the first year, you pay an annual charge of £84 for continued
hosting, e-mail and technical support.
Please note that with the above packages, you will not be able to edit your
own web site - any changes you require will need to be carried out by BNS.
OPTION 2
If you decide you want a specific Domain Name for your web site
such as 'www.yourname.co.uk' etc. (rather than 'yourname.scotbiz.net')
then you require to register your chosen domain name, and also arrange hosting
(where your web pages are stored). To keep costs to a minimum, we can offer
hosting on our own server, using your own domain name. When a visitor types
in your web address, that address stays at the top of the screen.
If you need to be able to edit your own web pages, then separate hosting needs
to be arranged with a hosting company. We can help you with this if required,
or do it on your behalf. For a business site, we would not
recommend one of the very cheap options, and a realistic figure would be around
£10 per month for hosting, depending on your requirements, and how many
visitors you expect to your site (traffic). In most cases, you can upgrade
your hosting package as your site grows in size or popularity. We can recommend

Once you have a Domain Name and hosting arranged, we can do the low cost web
design work for you, and transfer it over to your site.
If you want to be able to edit the information yourself (with a little skill
and the correct software!) then we can keep the design simple to allow you
to do this. Just let us know.

than £10 per year. (This varies slightly dependant on whether you go
for a .com, .co.uk, .net (etc.) domain.)
Here is a short summary of the advantages and disadvantages of of each option:
A scotbiz.net site is cheaper - around half the price or less.
By purchasing our web space in bulk, we get the best service that our provider
has to offer. BNS can then pass these savings on to you, while still providing
the same high quality, reliable service, offered by a top of the range hosting
plan.
BNS have full administrative control over the scotbiz.net site, so changes
and fixes can be carried out quickly.
Finding a domain name, which accurately reflects your type of
business can be very difficult, since most are already registered. This is
why you often see some very 'creative' web site names!
This is not usually an issue with a scotbiz.net web site.
Setting up things like e-mail for your own domain name can be difficult, unless you are familiar with the process. On a scotbiz.net site, we will setup your e-mail addresses for you, and can usually provide guidance on setting up your computer's e-mail program.
